Weekly Roundup #8: Bitcoins and bloviators
Welp. This weekend I got to play on a portable tailgate at the Giants game, where I was able to pretend I was a real bartender and make some monaaayy. I also enjoyed some mulled wine and proceeded to leave my phone in a Lyft, where it was stolen by following passengers, so that was a joy. I know how attached to my phone I am, we all are, let's be real, but, my god, I'd never realized how many verification codes are used for EVERYTHING. Monday was the day my work email decided it'd been long enough since I last logged in. And I couldn't use my monthly train pass so I had to keep buying one-offs. It was a nightmare, but so is the world, and we're all just gettin' through! Anyways, this is an incredibly short post because I had a lot of articles open on my phone to read later and it was also just a crazy week at work. If you read anything, scroll down to the Listening section because there lives the highlight of my last two weeks. Enjoy, loves!
Reading
The Trump White House’s Stockholm Syndrome, Vanity Fair. Oh, Graydon. How we’ll miss you.
Billy Bush: Yes, Donald Trump, You Said That, New York Times. "Bloviator" is my new favorite word. Also, four words I never thought I'd say..."Thank you, Billy Bush."
Winklevoss Twins Used Facebook Payout to Become Bitcoin Billionaires, Fortune. Looks like they're doing just fine...
This College Student Is Stuck Wearing a Christmas-Tree Costume to Class After Actually Getting All the Retweets She Asked For, Select All. Because who doesn't need a holiday-themed chuckle?
Listening
My Dad Wrote A Porno, Acast. This is my absolute new favorite podcast (highly recommend playing along with the drinking game). I was alone, laughing so hard I had tears streaming down my cheeks and I was constantly worried I was going to spit out my beer. Five stars, five thumbs up!! Oh, and, DO NOT LISTEN AT WORK! You will be laughing out loud, you can't help it.
Watching
Welcome to Hell, SNL. I love this so much. "Oh, and this ain't a girl group, we just travel in a pack for safety."
To The Bone, Netflix. I can definitely see how this could be triggering for those who have dealt with, and are still dealing with, eating disorders. It was painful for me to watch and I'm lucky enough to have not dealt with it. Lily Collins' looked so scary and the strength of playing that role, while having been anorexic in the past, I can't even imagine. This is just a really powerful movie. For anyone who's ever just wanted to yell, "Eat! It's just a bite!" at someone, you need to watch this.
