Guys. This past week was GORGEOUS, minus the terrifying rain storm I drove through Thursday night (my literal nightmare). Can I just put a little reminder in to everyone to step. away. from. your desks! I don’t do it nearly enough and my partner is always telling me I need to stop working while I eat lunch. SO. I’ve been going outside to eat at least once a week and it’s delightful. I know this isn’t breaking news, but I had to share! Give yourself a mental break during the day otherwise you’ll burn out even more quickly. AND, you know we could all use a little more Vitamin D!

The Book of the Night Women, Marlon James. I was honestly still reading this last week…I can’t tell you how long it’s been that a book has taken me that long to read. But only reading on the subway will do that, I guess.

Simone Biles just became the first gymnast to land a double-double dismount, and it's incredible, CNN. She 👏🏼 is 👏🏼 a 👏🏼 QUEEN!!! Honestly, I couldn’t stop watching.

It’s horrifying that there are so many of these violent, pathetic scumbags out there, but at least we can feel a tiny bit better knowing there are also people like K trying to stop them.

Facetune and the internet’s endless pursuit of physical perfection, Vox. I downloaded Facetune2 while reading this article and immediately hated it. I promptly deleted it. (Honestly. I’m not letting them charge me that monthly fee!) Don’t get me wrong, I’ve edited out a blemish before and I use VSCO to create a filter so my feed looks cohesive, but I try to still keep things as authentic as possible. Facetune was just too fake-looking for me. It made me think of the Kardashians and they are the opposite of who I aspire to be…minus the wealthy part. Facetune was simply not for me. Also, now I need to read Infinite Jest.

I Scammed Influencer Caroline Calloway at Her Event, The Scam, Vice. I had no idea who Caroline Calloway was before this article and I care even less now. I took a peek at her Insta feed and it was not appealing whatsoever, so I guess I just don’t get it 🤷🏼‍♀️ she also seems incredibly obnoxious.

Craving Freedom, Japan’s Women Opt Out of Marriage, The New York Times. I would never spend money on this or make people come to a ceremony, but I love the thought behind this, especially in countries like Japan where women are literally no one until they’re married.

Honeymoon Hashtag Hell, The New York Times. Don’t get me wrong, I’m enjoy social media and I love getting that great ‘grammable shot, but you also need to be aware of what you’re possibly missing out on. Take a few photos, you can even snap 40 to make sure you got the shot, as long as it takes a minute or less, then get back to enjoying yourself. You can post later. Trust me, people will still like your honeymoon photos even if they’re a week or two after.
