Weekly Roundup #65: Emilia Clarke and Aquaphor

Weekly Roundup #65: Emilia Clarke and Aquaphor

I think I’m finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel at work. It’s been absolutely insane, but I think I’m through the worst of it and I’m really looking forward to getting back to writing. Not to mention, it’s finally starting to get warm and I could not be more excited for those nights when I actually get home and it’s still light out! Anything coming up that you’re excited about?

Reading

Exit West, Mohsin Hamid.

A Battle for My Life, New Yorker. I am in awe of her. I hope to have the same grace and humility in life as Clarke.

'Change Is Closer Than We Think.' Inside Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's Unlikely Rise, Time. “I used to be much more cynical about how much was up against us,” she says. “I think I’ve changed my mind. Because I think that change is a lot closer than we think.” I truly hope so.

Gemma Chan Wants to End Whitewashing — In Hollywood and in History Books, Allure. As they wash her out on the cover…

Ulta Beauty's Best Makeup and Skincare Deals, Handpicked by a Beauty Editor, Cosmopolitan. Oh, you know I got backups of that MAC Paint Pot because it’s amaaaaaaze! (Edit: Just kidding, it had already sold out…😩 I stand by the “amaze” part though.)

FDA approves first drug for postpartum depression, NBC. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 This has been a long overlooked but very serious condition and I’m so glad it’s finally being addressed. This will help mothers bond with their newborns during those crucial early weeks and months. I mean, seeing an improvement in just 24 hours is crazy!

9 Revealing Moments From the College-Admissions Indictment, The Atlantic. These people are insane. Especially that last woman…I mean, how much of an idiot can you be?

What Shrill Writer Lindy West Is Listening to Right Now, Pitchfork. I love the closing four sentences. I also cannot wait to watch this show! Just waiting for that weekend binge time. But YES, please bring Lizzo on the show!

Why Aquaphor Is My Favorite Beauty Product Ever, Allure. Yes, yes and always, YES!

According to a New Crop of Cannabis Activists, Pot Is a Spiritual High, Cosmopolitan. That décor sounds rad though.

Cole + Haley Lu, Wonderland. Honestly? I probably won’t see this movie, but I just really like these two actors. I finally watched Edge of Seventeen a few weeks ago and, um, hi, Suite Life of Zack and Cody??

Supergoop Just Launched a Sunscreen for Your Scalp With SPF 45, the Poof Part Powder, Allure. Yes, yes, PLEASE. I’ll take eight.

What Kind of Friend Are You, Based on Your Myers-Briggs Type? PureWow. Mine was a perfect fit, how about you?

Listening

What I Like About You, Jonas Blue (ft. Theresa Rex). You truly cannot listen to a Jonas Blue song without it getting stuck in your head. He has the catchiest choruses.

Tempo, Lizzo (ft. Missy Elliott). Just try not to dance while listening. Seriously, I dare you.

Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Logic. He sounded similar to Mac Miller at parts, which gave me chills.

Watching

The Avengers, Marvel. I’d never seen any of these movies, but was always interested in the story so a couple friends and I had a movie marathon on Saturday. We only made it through the first two because they’re SO. LONG. But I’ll be watching Infinity War soon, so give me all your thoughts! What are your favorites? Do you actually like Captain America? Tony Stark is obviously the best comic relief. Let me hear it!

Loving

My Docs. I’ve wanted these forever, but was super nervous about the breaking in factor. The bf got them for my birthday, but, naturally, I’d just sprained my foot so I’m only now really able to wear them since the swelling is pretty much gone and it’s not as bad as I thought! Putting them on is a little rough because the top digs into the top of your foot, but, as soon as they’re on, they’re actually already pretty comfortable. Although, after about a half hour to an hour of wearing them, I’m ready for a break. I’m waiting on the care kit from the site and then I’m going to really start wearing them more often. Any tips from any Doc wearers out there?
